AI Music Detector for Artists
AI music detector for artists: check your own track privately before release, and what to do if a platform, distributor or listener says your music is AI.
- What the check looks for
- The decoder fingerprint of Suno (up to version 5) and Udio (up to version 1.5): evenly spaced spectral peaks between 1 and 8 kHz
- Your file
- Analysed in your browser and never uploaded; up to 20 MB, and the first 5 minutes are checked
- Human songs wrongly flagged in our test
- 0 of 40 (95% interval 0–8.8%), including heavy Auto-Tune, vocoder and electronic tracks
- Heavy Auto-Tune in our test
- Cher's Believe and T-Pain's Buy U a Drank both scored below 0.001
- Songs that are only partly AI
- Usually come back Likely human-made: in our test an AI voice over human production scored below 0.001
- Spotify's Likely AI Persona badge
- Applied after a Spotify review since mid-September 2026; artists are notified in Spotify for Artists and can appeal there
- AI credits on Spotify
- Launched in April 2026; artists can list which roles and instruments were made with AI
- Deezer's AI tag
- Applied to whole albums since 2025-06-20; Deezer says it wrongly flags fewer than 1 in 10,000 human tracks
- DistroKid
- Accepts music made with AI tools within its rules and asks at upload whether any of a track was AI-generated
- TuneCore
- Distributes generative AI music only from models trained on fully licensed data
- CD Baby
- Does not accept AI-generated content
- Universal Music Group v. DistroKid
- Filed 2026-09-15 in the US District Court for the District of Delaware, accusing DistroKid of unlawful practices and of flooding platforms with AI-generated music; DistroKid disputes the claims and said a very small number of recordings were removed in response to UMG claims
- Reported takedowns
- Independent artists posted that their music was taken down without notice (The Verge, as reported by Music Business Worldwide on 2026-10-12)
- Appeals against Deezer's AI tag
- No public appeal process found in Deezer's published materials (checked 2026-10-21)
- Free checks
- 3 a day without an account
- What we keep for a file check
- The score, the answer, the file type and size and visit details; never the audio or the file name
- Share links
- Contain only the song's Apple Music or Deezer ID, run the check again for whoever opens them, and are hidden from search engines
- Corrections and wrong results
- hello@isthissongai.app, or the Result wrong? button under any result

Why artists run an AI music detector before release
Because platforms and distributors now screen for AI music, and a wrong flag lands on you. An AI music detector for artists lets you see the problem first. Spotify labels AI artist identities, Deezer tags albums its detector finds to be AI, and distributors set their own AI rules. Checking your master first tells you how an audio detector reads it, before anyone else does.
The stakes rose in 2026. Universal Music Group sued DistroKid in September, accusing it of unlawful practices that include flooding streaming services with AI-generated music. DistroKid disputes the claims but said it had removed a very small number of recordings in response to them, and independent artists posted that their music had been taken down without notice. When rules tighten that fast, it helps to know where your own music stands.
How to check your own track
Upload the final master to the checker above. It is analysed in your browser and never leaves your device, so unreleased music stays private. Use the highest-quality file you have, up to 20 MB. You get a score from 0 to 1, the answer, the reasons behind it and its limits.
- Export the mastered track as WAV, FLAC or a high-bitrate MP3.
- Click Upload an audio file and choose it. The first 5 minutes are checked.
- Read the answer: Likely human-made means we found no fingerprint of the generators we know; Likely AI-generated means we found one.
- If a song you made without AI comes back Likely AI-generated, press Result wrong? and tell us. We want to see every false alarm.
You get 3 free checks a day without an account. The AI song detector on the home page works the same way.
If you used AI tools on your music
Disclose it, and follow your distributor's rules. Spotify's AI credits, launched in April 2026, let you say which roles and instruments were made with AI. Distributors differ a lot: DistroKid accepts AI-assisted music within its rules, TuneCore only takes music from licensed AI models, and CD Baby accepts no AI-generated content.
Don't treat a clean result from us as permission. Our check only looks for the fingerprint of fully generated audio, so a track with AI stems or an AI voice can come back Likely human-made and still need disclosing under a distributor's rules. The rules, not our score, decide what you need to disclose.
If your music is flagged as AI by mistake
Start with whoever applied the flag, and bring evidence that people made the music. Spotify lets artists appeal a Likely AI Persona badge in Spotify for Artists. We found no public appeal process in Deezer's published materials, so for a Deezer tag or a distributor takedown, contact your distributor, which delivers your music and can raise it with the service.
Evidence that helps:
- project and session files with their dates, and the stems;
- demos and voice memos from earlier versions;
- names of the people who played, sang, produced and mixed, and how to reach them;
- photos or video from the sessions;
- registrations with your collecting society or publisher.
A Likely human-made result from our checker can be one more piece of evidence, but it isn't a certificate, and a platform may use a different detector. Say what our result does and doesn't show, and link to the accuracy report so they can judge it.
If our AI music detector gets your song wrong
Tell us, and we will look at it. Press Result wrong? under the result and choose I made this song, or email hello@isthissongai.app with the song link. We read every report and use it to measure how often the checker is wrong.
We don't publish anyone's results. Share links contain only the song's catalogue ID, run the check again in the browser of whoever opens them, and are hidden from search engines. If a page on this site, such as the list of AI artists, says something wrong about you or an artist you represent, email us with a link we can check and we'll correct it.
What an AI music detector cannot tell artists
It can't prove a song was made by people. It can only say whether it found the trace of the generators it knows, Suno up to version 5 and Udio up to version 1.5. Newer generators and part-AI tracks can pass unnoticed, and it says nothing about copyright or whether a track breaks a distributor's rules.
Use an AI music detector for artists for what it is good at: a quick, private read on how an audio detector sees your master before release, and a second opinion when someone else's detector flags you.
Frequently asked questions
Will my unreleased track be uploaded?
No. The file is analysed in your browser and never sent to us. We keep a record of the check, such as the score, the answer and the file type and size, but never the audio or the file name; the privacy policy has the details.
Can I use the result to prove my music is human-made?
Only as one piece of evidence. Pair it with project files, stems and the people who worked on the track, because our check can't certify anything.
My song uses Auto-Tune heavily. Will it be flagged?
Not in the published test: heavily tuned songs by Cher and T-Pain scored below 0.001. The checker looks for a generator's fingerprint, not for processed vocals.
How do I appeal a Likely AI Persona badge on Spotify?
Spotify notifies artists in Spotify for Artists when it applies the badge, and the appeal steps are there. Spotify's support page explains both badge types.
