Yes, according to every platform and outlet we found that has looked at it, though the people behind it haven't said so themselves. Apple Music's bio calls Breaking Rust an AI-generated country music project, Billboard calls it an AI-powered country act, and Engadget reports that Spotify now shows an AI Persona badge on its profile. Both songs we checked scored above 0.99 on our AI song checker.

The act is best known for Walk My Walk, which topped Billboard's Country Digital Song Sales chart in November 2025. Apple Music's bio calls it the first AI-generated country song to top that chart.

Apple Music, Billboard and, according to Engadget, Spotify all treat Breaking Rust as AI. None of these statements comes from the act itself, and we found no interview or post in which its makers explain how the songs are made.

• Apple Music. Its artist bio describes Breaking Rust as an AI-generated country music project, says it first drew attention with the Resilient EP in October 2025, and calls Walk My Walk the first AI-generated country song to top the US Country Digital Song Sales chart.
• Billboard. It calls Breaking Rust an AI-powered country act and has tracked it on several charts. It reported that the songs were distributed through DistroKid and that it got no reply when it contacted the songwriter credited on Walk My Walk.
• Spotify. In an update on October 21, 2026, Engadget reported that Breaking Rust carries Spotify's AI Persona badge, which marks artists whose identity is AI-generated.

Walk My Walk was No. 1 on Billboard's Country Digital Song Sales chart in November 2025, a chart of paid downloads, not streams. Billboard counted more than 2,000 US copies sold in the week ending November 6. TIME argued that this made it No. 1 on one narrow measure, not a sign that it was the country song most people were listening to.

The streams were real too. ABC News reported over 3 million Spotify streams for Walk My Walk in less than a month, and Newsweek counted more than 2 million monthly Spotify listeners for the act in November 2025. When we checked on October 21, 2026, Breaking Rust had 697,446 monthly listeners, with Livin' on Borrowed Time at 32,735,562 plays and Walk My Walk at 29,934,275.

Before its No. 1, Billboard had already recorded the act debuting at No. 9 on its Emerging Artists chart, with Livin' On Borrowed Time at No. 5 on Country Digital Song Sales.

Both songs we checked carry the fingerprint of an AI music generator. Walk My Walk and Livin' On Borrowed Time both scored above 0.99 out of 1 on Apple Music's 30-second previews, so the checker answers Likely AI-generated for both. Deezer also labels the Livin' On Borrowed Time album as AI.

Re-encoding Apple's previews barely moved the scores: the lowest was 0.94, for Livin' On Borrowed Time as Opus. One result we can't explain: Deezer's own MP3 preview of Livin' On Borrowed Time scored 0.0006. Deezer may carry a different master; whatever the reason, it shows why a single score is never proof, and why the checker uses Apple's preview first.
